ABOUT PONTIAC PRINTING PRESS
Pontiac Printing Press is a CAD-first design and manufacturing studio in Michigan.
Every part is modeled from scratch, tested for function, and built to last.
If you're looking for cheap or disposable, this isn't it.
About Me
I'm Michael Jennings—founder of Pontiac Printing Press and the designer behind every piece that leaves this studio.
I hold a degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from Wayne State University. I've been designing in CAD for 12 years and 3D printing for six. But the foundation for this work started long before that.
My family's fingerprints are on the rockets, machines, and systems that shaped the modern world.
Lineage
Grandpa Ken was an expert marksman for the United States Marines and a champion of American manufacturing. He worked at NASA's Michoud rocket facility during the Apollo era, building hardware for the first missions that put the first astronauts on the moon.
Grandpa Jerry served in the U.S. Army at eighteen, stationed in Japan during the Korean War, where he worked with wireless radio systems. After returning home, he became the head tool and die engineer at GM's Fiero plant and promoted a young Mary Barra into her first major leadership role.
My father continued this legacy, spending forty years in automotive design at General Motors and starting his own business. It was his never-ending assortment of tools in the basement that became my playground from a young age.
I come from makers, soldiers, engineers—people who kept America moving.
I build to honor them—to prove that craftsmanship, quality, and hard work still matter.
What I Do
I design functional parts in CAD—starting from constraints, interfaces, and real-world use, not aesthetics or templates.
Every project begins with geometry: load paths, tolerances, mating surfaces, and material behavior. I model each part from scratch and iterate until it behaves correctly.
3D printing is the manufacturing method, not the product. It allows rapid iteration, controlled revisions, and production-ready prototypes without compromising intent. The result is hardware that fits, functions, and lasts—because it was designed to.
I work with engineering-grade materials (PETG, PA-CF, ASA, ABS, TPU) chosen for thermal stability, strength, and longevity. I make parts that solve problems and hold up under real-world use.
Pontiac Printing Press exists to continue Michigan's manufacturing tradition in a new medium: precision, intention, and respect for the craft.
