PROJECT PRICE ESTIMATOR
PRICING & LEAD TIMES
Pricing: Quotes are calculated using a combination of fixed and variable production drivers: setup validation, material volume, machine allocation, geometric complexity, multi-material or multi-color configuration, and shipping.
Production Time: Lead time depends on print duration, material availability, and current production capacity.
The breakdown below outlines how each factor affects pricing and turnaround.
Production Setup
$75
Every project begins with production intake to ensure printability and project success.
Includes:
- • File validation to ensure printability
- • Slicing configuration and optimization
- • Machine setup and calibration verification
File sourcing available for $49 if you need assistance locating suitable print files.
Note: File reviews for quote requests are provided at no cost. The $75 Production Setup Fee is applied once Pontiac Printing Press approves the project and work is authorized at checkout.
Material Usage
$15+
Material cost is determined by filament type and total material volume consumed during production.
Typical cost ranges per part (by material usage):
Small (0–250g) — $15
Examples: iPhone-sized bracket, sensor or PCB enclosure, mounting plate, small jig spacer.
Typically fits comfortably in one hand and is under ~3–4 inches in its largest dimension.
Medium (250–749g) — $30
Examples: N64 cartridge holder, mid-size electronics enclosure, PCB/electrical test fixture, automotive trim panel.
Typically larger than what you can comfortably hold flat in one hand, but not a two-handed or tall build.
Large (750g+) — $50+
Examples: full helmet, automotive grill insert, tall display trophy, near full build-volume enclosure.
Typically objects too big to comfortably hold in one hand, tall components over ~8–10 inches, or parts requiring excessive support material.
Note: Material selection is determined based on project requirements. Customer-specified materials are accommodated when feasible; however, Pontiac Printing Press assumes no liability for part performance when materials are client-selected.
Print Time
$50+
Print time pricing reflects machine allocation, scheduling impact, and production exposure based on slicer-estimated duration.
0–6 Hours — $50
Small functional components under ~100g and approximately 3–4 inches in height. Typical for single-color builds, medals, plaques, tall slender parts, or small batches with minimal geometric complexity.
6–12 Hours — $95
Medium-sized functional parts generally under ~200g, such as enclosures or fixtures. FDM-friendly geometry and single-color builds typically fall within this range.
12–18 Hours — $140
Small-to-medium components under ~300g with increased geometric complexity or significant color changes. Large-format, FDM-friendly single-color parts commonly fall within this tier.
18–24 Hours — $180
Extended-duration builds including dense parts, large-format components, or prints featuring sharp overhangs and complex geometry.
24+ Hours — $7.50 per hour
For builds exceeding 24 hours, pricing transitions to a standardized long-duration machine rate of $7.50 per hour.
Production runs of identical parts may qualify for optimized batch pricing.
Multi-Color (Max 4 Colors)
PREMIUM
Multi-color printing is a premium configuration due to material swaps, purge cycles, and extended machine allocation.
Digital color mapping within the slicer is a manual configuration process and incurs a $49 setup fee.
Final quote pricing reflects:
- • Increased machine time
- • Material waste from purge cycles
- • Additional slicing configuration and setup complexity
Note: Each additional color transition increases print duration and purge waste. In some cases, multi-color configurations can double or even triple the total machine time compared to a single-color equivalent. Multi-color projects are significantly more efficient when produced in batches rather than as one-off prints.
Shipping
FREE
Free U.S. shipping is included on all custom orders via USPS Ground Advantage (typically 2–5 business days in transit).
Optional expedited shipping is available at checkout, including:
- • USPS Priority Mail (typically 1–3 business days)
- • UPS 2nd Day Air
- • UPS Next Day Air
- • Overnight / Express Services
For expedited orders, the carrier (USPS or UPS) will be selected by Pontiac Printing Press based on delivery speed, pricing efficiency, and practical drop-off availability during business hours.
Shipping speed affects transit time only and does not reduce production lead time.
International shipping rates and delivery estimates are calculated at checkout.
Turnaround Time
Standard production lead time is generally 5 business days from project approval and payment for a single print or quantities of less than 5. However, every project is different so timelines may vary.
Lead time may vary based on:
- • Print duration and machine allocation
- • Material selection
- • Multi-color configuration
- • Current production queue
Production time refers to manufacturing only and does not include shipping transit time.
Rush Production
+100%
Accelerated production available based on schedule capacity and part complexity.
Key details:
- • Timeline: 2–3 business days (average, varies by print time)
- • Pricing: 100% premium on production costs (setup + print time)
- • Priority quote response and production queue placement
- • Eligibility determined after file review
Note: Rush production is not guaranteed and depends on current production schedule. A delivery estimate will be provided with your quote.
File / 3D Model Requirements
Files must be print-ready and validated before acceptance. This means:
- Clean, manifold geometry with no errors or non-manifold edges
- Correct scale and units (parts will be printed at submitted dimensions)
- Wall thickness appropriate for selected material (minimum 1.2mm for most materials)
- Proper clearances for assemblies and moving parts
- File formats accepted: STL, 3MF, STEP (preferred for review)
If your files require modifications, cleanup, or design work, you may need CAD services. See below.
Clean, production-ready files will fall near the lower end of the ranges above. Projects requiring geometry correction, tolerance adjustments, or engineering modification may incur additional fees.
Need a File Professionally Sliced?
$39
Submit your file and machine. PPP Studio will return a production-optimized .3mf with:
- • Proper print orientation and custom support settings
- • Correct material and print profiles for your machine
- • Production-grade speeds — tuned conservatively to maximize printability and part quality
Payment is collected on delivery. Multi-color or complex color-mapped files incur an additional $49 setup fee.
If the slice doesn't perform as expected, we'll reslice or issue a full refund.
